The Eiffel Tower, Montmartre and the food always fascinate foreign tourists. Despite its reputation as a dangerous city and sometimes the store closings on Sunday, Paris "remains the number one tourist destination in the world with 47 million tourists (...) where London is just over 35" even though the capital British and the Grand Paris are "key" button to the number of foreign tourists in 2013, welcomed Tuesday the deputy mayor of Paris in charge of Tourism, Jean-François Martins.
Of those 47 million visitors, 16.6 are foreigners, which is slightly below (16.8 million) of one unveiled last week by the UK Statistics Office (Office for National Statistics) for London.
Pour la première fois, l'Office du tourisme et des congrès de Paris a dévoilé mardi des chiffres à l'échelle du Grand Paris (Paris et les trois départements de Petite Couronne), dans un souci de «pertinence de la mesure de la fréquentation touristique». «Un grand nombre de touristes sont hébergés autour de Paris», a souligné le directeur général de l'Office Nicolas Lefebvre. Ainsi, sur 0,99 million de touristes chinois hébergés en Ile-de-France en 2013, seuls 0,22 l'ont été dans Paris intra muros, a-t-il illustré.
